This is the evaluation of the first rough cut for our opening title sequence:
1. The sound that we have chosen to use is very effective and indicates the genre of our opening sequence as a horror really well as it creates tension and suspense, which fits nicely with the shot types we have included as well as the dark and mysterious lighting that goes with it. When we went to Hampstead Heath, it was getting dark which resulted in the shots that we took coming out unclear. This has meant that we had to re-shoot the scenes we failed to get that day and have been focused on getting the camera quality right, which we think we have done well, as all our scenes are understandable.
2. We need to sort through and edit our scenes in order to make the plot more understandable and to let the viewer know what is going on and who the characters are. In terms of performance of the characters, all three members of our group were involved in not only filming, but taking part in the acting as well. Along with the locations of school and the park, it becomes clear that the characters are teenagers who become friends at school, but we know something is not right because the genre is Thriller/horror.
3. We need to also include title credits and the 'Press Play Production' company we created, as well as including the other shots that we had to re-film so that there are no gaps in the sequence. Our use of mise-en-scene has worked well as we used fake blood throughout production to add a sinister element to the sequence. We used this is the park and in and around college to hint to the viewer that something is wrong as well as suggesting danger and death.
4. Once all the scenes we want are included in the opening title sequence and in the correct order, we hope that the storyline becomes more clear to the viewer so therefore, they get an idea of what is happening and so it becomes a lot easier to understand who the characters are and what might happen in the end. We will continue to work on the order of the shots so that they come out as we planned because at the moment the story as a whole isn't as clear as we would like it to be.
