Writing down every shot in the sequence was really easy because the title sequence was based around wide shots, still/moving images or close ups. However, the making of the storyboard was slightly difficult because there was not a lot of detail on our drawings and we found it difficult to draw the images accurately and realistically. So we all had different jobs to either write down all the credits or try and draw all the images and different shots that were included in the title sequence for Gone Girl.
Creating the title credits a challenge as we had to
find the same font that was used, so trying to get the same writing took up
some time. We then had to find the correct size that we thought would fit in
the shot well by positioning it. When deciding the font we was going to use was
correct, we didn’t want it to distract the viewers from what was going on in the
scene by looking at the writing so we chose not to make it that big and fancy
and instead faded it in and out of every shot.
The font type and size that we ended up using was successful
because it came out clear and legible to the viewer. It suited the tone of the
film because it was slow paced and the title credits slowly dissolved into the
next scene that we shot in that same way as Gone Girl.
One drawback was the fact that we only had our
college to use for the location and it made it difficult because in Gone Girl,
some shots included a beach and a man standing next to a car and house, which
we didn’t have due to us not being allowed out of the sixth form college.
Therefore we had to use the facilities of the college such as Owens Fields and
the canteen. It was also challenging because we as a group had a time limit and
didn’t have enough time to finish the whole remake, otherwise the end result
would have been much longer and more entertaining.
To end on, if we
were to re-do this task, I would choose a sequence where there was a variety of
shots as I think this one didn't have much context for my group to work with, compared
to other sequences that we could have chosen.
